President Ferdinand “BongBong” Marcos Jr. delivered his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City, at 4:00 PM, Monday, July 28, 2025.
The President began the SONA 2025 by acknowledging that Filipinos are disappointed with the government, as evident in the results of the midterm elections. “Bigo at dismayado ang mga tao sa pamahalaan. Kailangan pa natin mas lalong galingan. Kailangan pa natin mas lalong bilisan.” President Marcos Jr. said.
Aligned with the survey conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), which states that the jobless rate in the country is about 4.1%, the President promises to create more jobs by strengthening our industries. He also encouraged investors to invest in our country’s agriculture, adding, “The Philippines is ready.”
Water supply in the country is a huge problem that continues to persist today, President Marcos Jr. aims to alleviate this problem, saying “Tulad ng pagkain, nakasalalay ang buhay sa tubig…. Marami kaming natatanggap na reklamo…. Titiyakin nating mapapanagot…ang mga nagkulang.”
According to the President, education is a top priority. Earlier this year, the administration started the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning Program (ARAL) program, which aims to strengthen early childhood care and development.
The President also assured to boost the agriculture sector in the country. Production of crops is seen to be improving, and more farm-to-market roads will be prioritized. He asked Congress to amend the Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund Act.
He said that the ₱113 billion budget allocated for the ₱20-per-kilo rice is now launched and is being initiated in several areas of the country, particularly in provinces. It will be rolled out nationwide in partnership with their Local Government Units (LGUs).
Regarding the missing sabungeros case, President Marcos Jr. ensured that all of those people behind the heinous crime would be held accountable. The perpetrators may be either officials or civilians; they will feel the weight of the punishment for what they have committed.
Due to continuous heavy rainfall brought by the three tropical cyclones: Crising, Dante, and Emong, including the southwest monsoon “habagat”, President Marcos Jr. stated that corrupt officials who misused the funds for the supposed flood control deals must be ashamed of themselves.
“Shame on you. (Mahiya naman kayo). Be ashamed because our fellow Filipinos were swept by floods or were submerged in floodwaters. Be ashamed of our children who will inherit that debt incurred because of what you committed, because you pocketed the funds.” He added before ending the address.
The address lasted an hour and eleven minutes, making it the shortest time he spent so far among his former addresses.
